Clarification: In referencing monolithic CPU-based systems and heterogeneous systems, I intended to say that there are a number of heterogeneous systems now in the rankings. My phrasing may have implied otherwise. Japan’s K Computer currently combines 68,544 Fujitsu SPARC64 VIIIfx CPUs, which puts it in the former category.
