About me

Richard Yonck is a foresight analyst with Intelligent Future LLC. Writing and speaking about future technology and its potential impacts on society, Richard is especially interested in the evolving relationship between technology and intelligence.

In 2008, Richard founded FutureNovo.com, a wiki designed to promote foresight and dialog about future technology.  He regularly blogs about new developments and their short-, mid- and long-range impacts.  He’s written about the future and emerging technologies in numerous publications including The Futurist, Wired, Psychology Today, H+ Magazine, Mensa Bulletin, American Cinematographer and at FutureNovo.com. His latest paper “Toward a Standard Metric of Machine Intelligence”, explores the need for a standardized intelligence test for artificial intelligences. It was published in the July 2012 issue of the peer-reviewed World Future Review, edited by Lane Jennings.

Richard’s perspective on the future is informed by over 20 years experience as a computer systems programmer-analyst, during which time he’s guided clients through the ever-shifting technological landscape. He’s The Futurist magazine’s Contributing Editor for Computing and AI and a Blog Editor for the World Future Society.
